There are many places to stay in Portland. Below you’ll find a list of the majority of larger hotels in the downtown Old Port area.
The AC Hotel is where we have a discounted room block. This is where the Farewell Brunch on Sunday is being hosted, and is also where the shuttle pick-up/drop-off is. For convenience, this would be the best hotel to book. Whit and Ed will also be staying here!
In addition, there are also inns, bed and breakfasts, VRBOs, and Airbnbs. Locate Casco Bay Lines on your map as a reference point to find what’s nearby to keep your walk or rideshare quick and convenient. However, you can certainly stay wherever you like, even outside of Portland, just keep in mind time to drive and park — and that the ferry boats depart promptly for the island :) Feel free to email uswith any questions, or if you find lodging and are unsure if it makes sense. Another sister property to the Inn at Diamond Cove, this newer hotel resides next to the deeply-rooted Shipyard Brewing, which has operated in the adjacent building since 1994 on the former site of the Crosby Laughlin Foundry. Ergo, the Cambria has been nicknamed a “brewtel” due to it’s proximity to the brewery. If you fancy another beverage, visit the ALTO Terrace Bar + Kitchen on the rooftop for al fresco cocktails or mocktails.

This hotel is up one block up from Casco Bay Lines and is an easy 6 minute walk. The fun and funky Friendly Toast restaurant is in this hotel and offers a mean breakfast menu. It is a New England-based eatery with 13 locations and two more on the way in 2025. Stop at one on your drive up to Maine if you’re hungry.

Beautiful, tranquil, relaxing location on Great Diamond Island. The inn is a short walk up from the wedding festivities. Suites offer a fun way to room with family or friends. You will need to consider the ferry schedule or water taxi for transportation to the mainland.

Fitting if you’re looking for more amenities in your room. Diagonal from the AC Hotel and next to the Cambria Hotel and Shipyard Brewery, they’re all about a nine minute walk to Casco Bay Lines.

This hotel is directly across the street from Casco Bay Lines and Andy’s Pub, so if you want the shortest walk to the wedding festivities, this is the hotel for you.

One block up from the waterfront, the Hyatt is in diagonal from the Portland Harbor Hotel in the heart of the Old Port. The historic Fore Street houses countless shops and restaurants. EVO Kitchen + Bar is located on the street-level of the Hyatt, and serves up a must-have flavorful modern fusion of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food.

A less than 15-minute walk down Commercial Street from Casco Bay Lines, lives the Canopy. With modern design and decor, the aptly named hotel houses Luna, a scenic rooftop restaurant and bar. Birdseye views of the city make you feel like you’re in your own canopy.

On the block adjacent to the Canopy, you’ll find the restaurant Tiqa housed on the first floor of the Courtyard Marriott. Offering divine pan Mediterranean seasonal fine dining, yet another great option in downtown Portland.

Located on the western end of Commercial Street, just past the Courtyard Marriott and the Canopy Hotel, it is the furthest walk from Casco Bay Lines, clocking in at 16 minutes. However, it is across the street from Becky’s Diner, a Portland institution.

Located in-land about six blocks abutting Congress Street, another major road that marks the boundary of what’s considered “downtown.” The 13 minute walk to Casco Bay Lines will take you on a lovely tour of town, down Exchange Street or Market Street. The Press Hotel is just cool. The former home of our newspaper the Portland Press Herald, the building was built in 1923, so the rooms are inspired by vintage vibes, Gutenberg presses, and letter blocks. The idea of craft and art is also highlighted in their small gallery downstairs that features local creatives, as well as throughout the hotel — it’s palpable, like you’re staying at an art museum with a rich history.

While this is the longest walk to Casco Bay Lines at 25 minutes, it is located where the “West End” starts. The State Theater is around the corner. The Portland Museum of Art faces the hotel. Funky vintage shops, playful eateries, and more. The neighborhood has a different vibe from the waterfront that fosters your creative spirit. Originally the old Eastland Park Hotel from 1927, the Westin certainly provided a much needed makeover. Fortunately, they kept the name of the top floor bar and lounge, Top of the East, which still offers the best views of the city and worth visiting for a bevy and a bite.
